Today i have been birding my local site at Thames Chase Forest Centre,Pike Lane,Upminster.
I started off there at 10am this morning with my little Princess Isla.To be fair, she wasnt really interested in the birds, just the food, drink, the colouring in book amd the Swings!! But in the time we was there, watching the feeders i had 2 new birds ive never had on the feeders before,Yellowhammer and Brambling,a lovely female, only problem is,because Isla was with me,i missed out on a shot of the Brambling as i was getting her highness a Plain Croissant and a carton of Orange Ribena, which she skilfully demolished in under 3 minutes.
After dropping her off at pre school around midday,i made my way back to the site and managed shots of the Yellowhammer and a few other birds, all below.
It was like an early spring day and there are a few signs of spring now,a bumble bee foraging,a few trees looking like the buds are developing and general bird action seemed to be heightened, but maybe it was just that for the first time in 4 days there was no wind, the sun was out and there wasnt much rain.I watched some Starlings in the trees, they are cracking birds, full of colour, purple and green and specks of silver when in the right light, theres definately more to some birds than meets the eye.Of course,my afternoon walk was ruined by the daily torrential downpour but it was good while it lasted, same again tomorrow me thinks, here are a few photos from the last couple of days
