My Neglected Blog

Hi chaps, its been a long time but getting my business up and running has meant i have not been able to get onto my computer to log anything,it has also meant i have had no time or very little for birding.
Have managed a few highlights though, got a text last Tuesday from Shaun Harvey saying that him and Dick Jeffries had a Temminks Stint over the Ingrebourne Valley,so off i shot to get the bird which obliged for the hour or so that i was there. It turned out to be a fruitful trip in more ways than one as i took a few business cards with me and managed to get a couple of phone calls and bookings the next day, cheers!!!
Have only made a few visits to Bonnetts Wood, the latest was last night for half an hour where i saw 2 Yellowhammers,Little Owl,heard 3 m cettis,Great Spotted woodpecker & a Mistle thrush. There seemed to be a lack in warblers last night compared to a few weeks ago but it was dull out and maybe they were all having a little break for the evening.
Am off to the Farne Islands on Friday, back Saturday night, got a boat trip booked and hope to see seabirds, puffins etc and terns and have also had a tip off for some woodland species like Pied & spotted flycatcher, wood warbler to name a few,we also hope to get some upland species with grouse and ring ouzel being high on the list of priorities.
As for Hornchurch,we finished the season with a 2-0 home win over Maidstone but results in the previous weeks meant that we were out of contention for the play offs,a dissapointing season in all honesty but we will bounce back next season and i fancy us to go up.
As for the Business,it is quiet at times but have only been up and running a few weeks so i shouldnt expect too much although at times it threatens to go mad,the minute it does it slows down again but i am taking bookings daily and next week i am going to go all out to advertise it more. Will speak to you when i get back from the farnes with my trip report.
