Redstarts in abundance

Went back to rainham riverside today to try to get better photos of the Redstarts.
There seem to be 3/4 there, definately 2 Females and a male but i think theres a second male as the one today, looked slightly different in markings to the one yesterday, but i am no expert so will leave that decision upto the proffesionals until i see them together lol
A lovely day, warm,up to around 18-19c and a few insects and butterflies were out, shame its going to get colder again, hopefully the next couple of days can stay warm and the coming coldspell isnt too long.
Had a nice walk over the Western edge of the Marsh, again without touching the actual RSPB Site, plenty of decent birding is to be had away from the reserve.
Photos below of some of the stuff we saw,a great day spent with the likes of Ron Colson,Dave Cornwell,James Astley,Denis Tuck,Alan Shearman,Chris,Trevor Oakley,John Ainsworth to name a few,if i have forgotten anyone, sorry.
A good days birding.
Other highlights not captured on camera or too poor shots to post are 2 Short Eared Owls,Marsh Harrier x 2,Buzzard,Peregrine,redshank,curlew and decent flocks of Linnets,Goldfinch,Starlings etc

FFS Wenger

Yesterday saw the capitulation in the space of about 5 minutes of Arsenal to those tossers Tottenham, really dont want to talk about it,so i won't.
Had a few beers before, during and after the game and woke up feeling like shite this morning and didn't get out of my pit until 1.30pm by which time i felt surprisingly fine.
Went to Rainham Shoreline, near RSPB Rainham to see the Black Redstarts this afternoon,it was a nice day but felt cold in the strong wind.
Saw the Male, perched on an office block along with a chiffchaff. On the Shoreline were Redshanks,Teal,Black headed gulls,Herring gulls and the odd common gull.A few cormorants were going up river and a few more perched out on the wodden landing structures.
15 linnets were perched on the site next to the sea wall,a green fence.
A Short Eared Owl was seen briefly over the Marsh and a Kestrel hovered overhead.Had around 12 Snipe flushed just off Coldharbour Lane and a distant Marsh Harrier over the Sluice.
Hopefully it will be warmer tomorrow with less of a breeze as its supposed to be a nice sunny day, spring is starting to feel like its here now.
