All work and no play makes Robert an unhappy boy

Well not really, yes the last 48 hours i have worked hard with just 3 hours birding crammed in two shifts of around 1.5 hours each at Thames Chase but i am not particularly unhappy about it,more tonight as i have a 11.40pm land at Gatwick and then a 4.15am take to Gatwick, followed by a few hours sleep and then a midday to Braintree for my old friend Mr Hills down the road who i go footy with,i may,if i manage a couple of hours sleep in a minute, then a couple more about 2am,get up around 9 and get a couple of hours birding in at thames chase before Braintree, but i may just decide to sleep till 11am,may get a couple of hours birding in round Braintree but then again may just come back and do the 3.10pm i have, depends on traffic, either way,its good money and money thats needed with Christmas just around the corner, also the Boozy Birders are going to North Kent on Tuesday with our leader,Howard Vaughan of RSPB Rainham fame, dig us out some goodies please H.
As for today,i got home from work at 4am,straight to bed but was woken by the Nipper before 8 who decided it was time to play,as i have a considerate other half,i ended up playing with nipper as the other half decided to swap beds with nipper to top up the 10 hours sleep she had already had.
I ended up dozing, while every now and then waking up to stop Isla loading the contents of Alices make up bag onto her face and getting out of bed finally just before 10,off to London for a job i returned approx 2pm and made my way to Thames Chase where i met fellow Boozy Birder and photography enthusiast Trevor, who has a better camera & lense than me,therefore gets better shots than me....not jealous....
We saw pretty much bugger all,a Bullfinch, few Siskins,Goldfinch but we did have 6 Golden Plover fly over,a site first, albeit it flying through.I had 2 Buzzards off Pike Lane, quite close by was 7 Red Legged Partridge, the first seen here for a few months at least,Trevor also had a Buzzard and the Green Sandpiper from the Scrape side.1 Single redpoll and a few Jays and Green Woodpeckers pretty much rounded off the afternoon which although cold was pleasant enough while the sun stuck around.I finished it off with helping the clear up of the Christmas fayre which had been on at the visitor centre all weekend and seemed to go down well, with well over 80 cars in the car park at any one time and at some points parked all along the 1/4 mile drive, well done to all involved....
No pictures today as i only managed a couple of crap ones and really can't be bothered to upload them, really not worth it.
